Statue, Cartagena
Seen on the Esplanade at Cartagena and taken in extremely bright sunshine. The background of palm trees, buildings and restaurant signs was distracting, so I’ve removed it, but left the shadow underneath the statue.
Unfortunately, despite extensive googling, I’ve been unable to find out what the statue depicts or commemorates. From the brow ridges I think it could be of a neanderthal man?

Thank you – that’s solved a question that’s had me pondering for a long time. I thought it might be something to do with the Spanish Civil War, but was obviously wrong!
